OE Leveling Rake for the Cafelat Robot Filter Basket. This simple tool is for doing one task - it stirs, and levels the coffee bed in the deep Cafelat Robot Portafilter Basket.

As we are Robot Obsessives, we have found that one of the challenges with the deep basket is preparing the coffee bed in such a way that you can be assured that it is level. If the coffee is not level, even a self leveling tamper may cause uneven coffee density in the basket after tamping. Side tapping to distribute, thumping to distribute, etc. does not guarantee a level & uniform bed. If you perform aggressive WDT of the coffee bed you may get a good distribution, but may not have a level surface when you're finished. This is NOT a WDT Tool because it does not go all the way to the bottom of the basket - it is a Leveling Tool. We have found, after numerous prototypes, that using this simple tool removes a pesky variable from the process resulting in more consistent pulls (or should we say pushes?) with the Robot. The 0.6mm diameter pins go just to the point of the curvature at the lower area of the basket so the pins do not touch the basket itself at all.

The body of the Rake is machined P.O.M. (Delrin Acetal Plastic), the pins are enamel coated spring steel with nylon heads (and they are very, very sharp and fit VERY precisely in the holes of the body). The Rake is shipped flat-packed, so you will need to install the pins yourself. The Rake uses 5 pins, and we've included 7 in the set so you have a couple of extra in case you need them! Video instructions for pin installation are available. Cafelat Robot NOT included!
