Orphan Espresso

The Porlex Stainless Steel coffee grinders are one of the newer additions to our line of exceptional hand grinders.   The design is very similar to the Kyocera CM-45, which has been well accepted as a very capable and consistent hand grinder for Turkish powder to french press.    The body is 100% stainless steel and the fit of the body parts is excellent.  The conical burr is ceramic and lends itself to easy cleaning and a long rust free life.     Inner spring mechanism keeps the burr evenly adjusted even on the coarser grinds.    It is overall a bit larger than the Kyocera but has similar capacity and grinding function.

• Lifted curved handle is about 6" (150mm) long
• Very quiet static free operation with effortless turning force required to grind
• Bottom catch cup allows direct dosing into portafilter with no additional funnels or gizmos
• Grind rate is about 200 turns for 14 grams of beans through the espresso range (a bit slower than the Kyocera)
• Hopper Capacity about 4 tablespoons (28 grams) of coffee beans
• Bottom marked "JAPAN PORLEX CERAMIC GRINDER FOR OUTDOOR USE"  (communications with our Japanese coffee aficionados inform us that the plastic bodied grinders can have static issues when used outdoors....we have not personally experienced this phenomenon) Made in Osaka, Japan.
