The Orphan Espresso LIDO hand coffee grinder features:
- All aluminum stacked plate construction
- Dual bronze axle bearing system

Growing outward from the 38mm conical grinding burr, the LIDO is designed as an all purpose coffee grinder. The dual bronze bearings are fit to the burr axle at extremely tight tolerances so there is no wobble of the inner burr while grinding. The lockable stepless bottom adjustment system allows fine incremental adjustments to be made and maintained with no wandering of the adjustment setting. The two position handle allows the user the choice of a long handle for a two handed bicycle grinding motion or a shorter hold in one hand and turn the other motion. In either case the turning is very easy throughout the grind range. The grinding speed is average, as the the burr set used in the LIDO does not lend itself to aggressive attack. An example - 20 grams of coffee beans, test ground for French Press, required 110 turns, and took 60 seconds to grind.
The slow turning of this burr leads to a very consistent coffee grinding and the combination of slow speed and extreme burr stability make the LIDO an outstanding grinder for use in any brewing method. Our design goal was to produce a hand grinder particularly well suited to non espresso grinds....aeropress to french press and it performs well through these ranges, and is particularly good as a portable cupping grinder. The espresso grind on the LIDO is competent and on par with most small burr hand grinders on the market.
We designed the LIDO to meet our exacting standards of coffee grinding and the reasonable expectation of product reliability and longevity. All fasteners and threading are standard and the only breakable part, the catch cup, is a standard jar which is readily available in both glass and plastic.
