 Description
The OE 3rd Shot is a solid aluminum heat sink designed specifically for use with the Olympia Cremina to approach the problem of group overheating when multiple shots are pulled.  

Inserting the 3rd Shot in your group will result in an approximate 10 degree drop in group temperature in 2 minutes.  Total heat draw from group about 12 degrees...the kinetics of the heat draw depends on the temperature of the 3rd shot at insertion...rinse in cold water for a faster cooling effect (about 12 degrees total in 2 minutes).

The design is based on the Richard Penny bottomless portafilter and is CNC machined in Wisconsin.   The ear design is a direct fit to the Olympia Cremina and for other machines (nominal 49mm small group lever machines) some ear filing may be required for custom fit..the soft aluminum makes this VERY easy to do.    The 3rd Shot is fitted with a silicone grip band as if you leave it in for a long time it can become as hot as the group!

Note:  The 3rd Shot was specifically designed to fit the Olympia Cremina.  For use in La Pavoni or Elektra MCAL, ear filing is needed to fit, yes, but more to the point aluminum must be removed from the surface (interface of dispersion screen and top of 3rd Shot) to allow for the lower group dispersion screen in these machines (7mm vs 5mm in Cremina)  and insure a good metal to metal contact of the heat sink to the screen and group bell for efficient heat transfer.
