We have been asked about grind speeds for various settings other than espresso and ran some tests of different grind settings and crank rates for 14 grams of beans. The result in photo form is (click on the photo for a larger view):
To summarize the result..... Turkish powder is one detent from tight....thyere are about 5 detents per revooution and these slight stops can be felt as the adjustment wheelhas small bumps which correspond to dimples in the face of the burr but suffice to say that the adjustment is not exactly linear but very logical. Turkish at 300 is fairly normal Turkish mill speed if not even a bit faster than some, 1/2 turn looser drops it to 200, a full turn looser drops to about 150, etc, until it bottoms out at the coare settings at around 100 turns for 14 grams of beans. The loosest reasonable setting is about 2 turns from tight and beyond that the grind becomes more and more inconsistent due to the tendency of the bean fragments to reorient themselves and slip through the burr. As far a time.....about 1 1/2 minutes fro espresso and as low as 45 seconds or so for a coarse grind. Hope this helps give a more exact measure of speed. All of the grinds are very easy and quiet.
