Anhydrous Citric AcidThe natural descaler of choice to use in Home Espresso Machines. It is a mild acid, a bit more aggresive than vinegar, food safe, and won't harm the metals or seals in your machine - EXCEPT CHROME - DO NOT USE ON CHROME (for Chromed parts, we use Joe Glo!). We sell these pure crystals in 100 gram units (about 1/4 lb). This quantity is enough for about 10 routine, maintenance descalings of a Home Espresso Machine. You would use more in extreme cases. We are offering this quantity because it's more than enough for the average person to use over the course of a LONG time, and it does have about a 2 year shelf life (keep it dry!). Simple to use - and no additives. Instructions for use: Dissolve 1 Tablespoon Citric Acid Crystals in 1 Liter of hot water, add to empty espresso machine boiler, add water to fill to the top. Close boiler. Cycle Element till hot. Operate group, steam & water valves to allow liquid to pass through. Cool. Empty boiler. Rinse several times until water from the machine remains clear. Don't be alarmed if the water/citric solution turns blue/green/milky colors - this is normal. Rinse very well before using the machine. Packaged in 3 sizes....the more you buy the more you save! 100 grams - $2.50 250 grams - $4.50 500 grams - $7.50
TECH TIP: Before you descale, LOOK INSIDE THE BOILER...check for white patches of scale by using an inspection light. Avoid descaling if it is not actually needed. |
