Installation of the upgrade panel for the Baratza Vario Espresso Grinder.
You will need a phillips head screwdriver, and a small, blunt pick, or probe. The panels are identical in appearance, but the new panel has a new memory function (so the grinder will not lose your settings when the power goes out!), and a sleep function that turns off the blue LED light (we weren't sure we needed this upgrade, but our power has gone out briefly several nights in a row, and we found it VERY nice to still have the settings intact!). Baratza states that the installation of the panel is simple, and straightforward, and it IS both easy, and straightforward!

First, pull the slider knobs off - they pull straight out to the sides

With the machine laid on its back, you can see the screw in the center at the bottom of the panel, and on the left, and right sides a small square hole. (the photo shows the new board in hand, with the hole in the center for the screw), and the old board still installed on the grinder.

Unscrew the phillips screw that holds the board in.

The photo below shows the small hook at the right, and left sides of the board.

Use a blunt probe (or in this case a blunt knitting needle) to push the hook out of the holding position.

Once the hooks are pushed 'in', use a flat tip screwdriver, or thin utensil, to gently pry up on the board, separating it from the grinder body.

The board is held at the top by hooks as well, so once the bottom is loosened, carefully pull the board towards you, tilting it away from the grinder body. Now you can disconnect the cable - pull it straight away from the board.

The old board on the left, the new one on the right, and the slider knobs, ready to be installed.

Reconnect the cable.

Snap the board back into place - top first, then bottom edge.

Replace the phillips head screw - snug is fine, don't over tighten.
Locate the slider arms, and snap the slider knobs back in, and you're done!
